SpareFoot’s Account Management Team Zeroes In On Facility Profitability

By John Egan   October 23, 2014

Cara Scott Amanda Ferguson

At SpareFoot, Amanda Ferguson’s and Cara Scott’s everyday mission is simple: Help our self-storage facility clients make more money. In other words, they’re our in-house consultants for facility profitability.

“There’s a lot of ways we do this—from focusing on performance-related metrics to ensuring our clients understand all of the products and partnerships we offer,” Ferguson said.

Ferguson and Scott make up SpareFoot’s Account Management Team, which aims to optimize listings for many of the facilities on SpareFoot’s self-storage network. Our facility clients might see Ferguson and Scott at various self-storage trade shows around the U.S., such as the upcoming Texas Self Storage Association conference in Fort Worth. → Keep Reading

Chris Garrett: A Customer Service Superhero at SpareFoot

By John Egan   July 29, 2014

ACE Team at SpareFoot

It wouldn’t be a stretch, and actually would be pretty appropriate, to proclaim Chris Garrett as a customer service superhero.

Garrett, a full-time member of SpareFoot’s Amazing Customer Experience (ACE) Team and a part-time comic-book creator, recently won an in-house contest to recognize the delivery of an amazing customer experience. SpareFoot judges reviewed phone calls from storage-seeking customers that were answered by ACE Team members. A call taken by Garrett (at left in top picture with SpareFoot’s Josh Lipton) was declared the winner. → Keep Reading

Question: Who Is RJ Gossett? Answer: SpareFoot’s Resident Pub-Quiz King

By John Egan   July 15, 2014

RJ Gossett

Alex Trebek, eat your trivia-loving heart out. You’ve got nothing on SpareFoot’s resident quiz host, RJ Gossett. Well, at least we humbly think so.

Could the “Jeopardy!” host keep up with Gossett? We doubt it. Every Monday and Tuesday night, you’ll find Gossett plying his part-time trade as a quizmaster at two venues in Austin, TX, that aren’t nearly as cushy as the studio where “Jeopardy!” is taped.

For Gossett, a member of SpareFoot’s Client Relations Team, working as a quizmaster is no trivial matter. (Yes, the pun is intended.) → Keep Reading

Meet the SpareFeet: For Tevis Paxton and Kady Williams, Goofing Around Is the Norm

By John Egan   March 26, 2014

Tevis Paxton and Kady Williams

Does SpareFoot have a budding Steve Carell, Stephen Colbert, Tina Fey or Julia Louis-Dreyfus in our midst? Yes, we do—and it very much is a laughing matter.

Not one but two SpareFeet are members of comedy troupes in Austin. Tevis Paxton, a member of our Lead Development Team, is in two local improv troupes: Raw Power and Rush. Meanwhile, Kady Williams, a member of our Amazing Customer Experience (ACE) Team, does her thing with a sketch comedy troupe called the Dramazons. Williams’ stage name is Kady Rain.

Meet the SpareFeet: Software Developer Jahn Veach Savors ‘Once in a Lifetime’ Job

By John Egan   March 21, 2014

Fresh out of the University of Texas, Jahn Veach joined SpareFoot back in February 2010, when the company truly fit the hard-core definition of a startup.

“At the time, SpareFoot was a five-person company with an uncertain future. The opportunity to help guide and build a company from the ground up was irresistible,” Veach said. “Because I had just graduated from college and didn’t have much to lose if things went south, I felt that this was a once-in-a-lifetime offer I couldn’t refuse.”

Things certainly haven’t gone south. Veach now is a member of a robust Development Team at SpareFoot, and we employ more than 120 people. By the end of the year, the SpareFoot crew should number about 160.

Meet the SpareFeet: Yung Prospect, a Rapper on the Rise

By John Egan   March 7, 2014

Zave Crayton

Every time rapper Marzavia “Zave” Crayton performs, he wants audiences to take note of his unorthodox style.

“One thing that a lot of rappers tend to do is just recite lyrics at the crowd, with no energy or participation,” said Crayton, a native Austinite whose stage name is Yung Prospect. “On the other hand, I like to move and really engage myself into bringing that positive vibe at any venue I perform at.”

Meet the SpareFeet: Up-and-Coming Austin Folk Musician Carrie Ann Carroll

By John Egan   March 5, 2014

Carrie Ann Carroll

When Carrie Ann Carroll isn’t helping SpareFoot customers find storage, you might find her trying to tell the truth through her music.

Carroll, a member of SpareFoot’s Amazing Customer Experience (ACE) Team, is an aspiring singer/songwriter who’s just released her first full-length CD, “You Should Know.” A release party for the 11-song CD is set for March 8 in Austin.

Meet the SpareFeet: Amazing Customer Experience Team

By Jenny Zhang   December 27, 2013

ACE Team

Once upon a time, our exceptional call center team (the Customer Experience Team) clocked in at a hefty three reps: Melissa, Albert and Jenelle. How times flies when you’re a startup! Now, almost a year later, our CET team has been refurbished with a shiny new name (the Amazing Customer Experience Team, or ACE Team), a new home in our office and 18 new members, all of whom are experts in customer service and storage.

Meet the SpareFeet: Cory Michner

Cory Michner

Cory Michner humbly shrugs off the notion that he’d qualify as a Renaissance man. But let’s examine the evidence.

Puppies of SpareFoot: Bootsy

By Jenny Zhang   October 15, 2013

bootsy SF

They may be miniature in size, but Dachshunds have a pretty impressive track record for cultural impact. Picasso’s Lump appeared in 15 of the artist’s 44 studies of Diego Valazquez’s painting Las Meninas. Andy Warhol’s Amos and Archie were featured in several of Warhol’s paintings, drawings and diary entries. When William Randolph Hearst’s Helena died, she was eulogized in his “In the News” column. Napoleon Bonaparte’s Grenouille and Fausette were said to have inspired the phrase “Napoleon Complex.”
