Stay Cool: How To Store Vinyl Records

The unfortunate trend in indie music seems to be a propensity to release albums exclusively on 7” vinyl. While that’s great for posterity, I have frequently found myself in the midst of a “principle purchase,” which means I will buy the vinyl record on principle so my favorite band sees some royalties, then go home and download the digital version of the album I’ll actually listen to, for free. This tends to add up to a substantial collection of untouched records. “These could be valuable someday,” I lie to myself, and I set about finding an acceptable method of storing these discs of reckless nostalgia.

Protect Your Storage Unit From Creepy Thieves

One of our national clients, StorageMart, experienced a break-in at one of their Kansas City self-storage facilities on Dec. 11. Locks were cut on several storage units that evening. The property manager moved quickly when he discovered the theft the next morning, and brought the police in to collect evidence and security footage.

Family Photo Storage: How To Prevent Scratches, Fading, Water Damage

This summer, the central Texas region experienced a serious drought that culminated in extremely destructive wildfires that raged through most of September. Although the fires didn’t reach our office in downtown Austin, families in neighboring cities like Bastrop, TX lost their homes. I always think about how emotionally trying it must be to evacuate your home in an event like this, where you may only be able to bring along an armful of your most treasured, irreplaceable belongings.
