StorageMart Facebook Fans Raise $1K For Kure It Cancer Research

One of our clients, StorageMart, announced a donation of $1,000 to one of our favorite nonprofits, Kure It Cancer Research.

StorageMart Gives posted a challenge to its Facebook community, promising a donation of $1 for every like and share (up to 1,000) generated by a posted image of the Kure It logo. The goal was reached with more than a week’s time to spare.

Spare Funds Scholarship Winner Joyce Kim Is Saving The World

We received 89 applications to our Spare Funds scholarship from all over the world, including hopefuls from Pakistan, China, Ghana, Tunisia and India. They ranged in age from 18 to 59, majoring in everything from dance to microbiology. With so many interesting candidates, it was a difficult choice, but there was one clear winner. A rising junior at the University of Kentucky, the amazing Joyce Kim is our recipient of $5,000 for tuition and a semester of free self-storage.

SpareFoot Voted “Best Online Directory” 2nd Year In A Row

For the second year in a row, SpareFoot has been voted “Best Online Directory” in the Inside Self-Storage Best of Business reader-choice poll. Launched in 2011, the poll solicits online votes from industry professionals, who elect their favorite vendors in about 30 categories. SpareFoot will be honored with a feature profile in ISS magazine, as well as during a special ceremony at the ISS World Expo in Las Vegas in April.

“It is awesome to be chosen for Best Online Directory for the second year in a row. Our clients and friends in the industry made it happen, so we thank them for their vote and ongoing support,” SpareFoot CEO Chuck Gordon said.

Penske’s Gregory Spotted In SpareFoot Workout Gear

Since we teamed up with Penske Truck Rental in May, we’ve suspected that Penske employees share both our work ethic and fashion sensibility. This suspicion was confirmed when we opened last week’s Reading Eagle and discovered Penske’s Gregory Smith sporting an industrial-strength chain and a SpareFoot wristband.

Kure It: Olympic Competition Brings Startup Companies Together for Charity

SpareFoot, the Austin-based tech startup self-storage finder, won $5,000 for Kure It Cancer Research in Austin’s Summer Startup Olympics. This second edition of the Startup Olympics brought together competitors from eight elite Austin tech startup companies. In the spirit of innovation and community fundraising, participants competed for monetary contributions to the charity of their choice. SpareFoot snagged the silver medal for a donation that will be used to further Kure It’s mission of funding innovative, groundbreaking research projects focusing on underfunded cancers.
